Can-Do Albany has a zero tolerance for child abuse and is committed to being a safe and friendly support service for children and young people.
Can-Do Albany will actively work to listen to and empower children and young people and will have systems in place to protect them from abuse.
Can-Do Albany will take all allegations of abuse very seriously and will respond to them consistently in line with our policies and procedures.
Can-Do Albany is committed to providing cultural safety for all children and young people and to providing a safe environment for young people with a disability.
Can-Do-Albany is committed to continuously monitoring and improving our processes and procedures to ensure the ongoing safety of a child or young person.
These commitments will be evidenced in all our operational policies and procedures and will be demonstrated through the way that staff engage with and support children and young people.
The National Principles for Child Safe Organisations are embedded in our operational structure.
These Principles are:
Child safety and wellbeing is embedded in organisational leadership, governance, and culture.
Children and young people are informed about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously.
Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing.
Equity is upheld and diverse needs respected in policy and practice.
People working with children and young people are suitable and supported to reflect child safety and wellbeing values in practice.
Processes to respond to complaints and concerns are child focused.
Staff and volunteers are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and awareness to keep children and young people safe through ongoing education and training.
Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed.
Implementation of the national child safe principles is regularly reviewed and improved.
