PEERS® for Adolescents (13-17 years)

Both programs are comprised of 14 x 1.5-hour group sessions. Participants learn and rehearse a range of important age-related social skills and topics, including:

  • Using appropriate conversational skills

  • Choosing appropriate friends

  • Appropriately using electronic forms of communication

  • Appropriately using humour and assessing humour feedback

  • Starting, entering, and exiting conversations appropriately between peers

  • Organising successful get-togethers with friends

  • Being a good sport when engaging in games/sports with others

  • Handling arguments and disagreements with friends and in relationships

  • Handling rejection, teasing, bullying, rumours/gossip and cyber bullying

  • Changing a bad reputation

Parents/guardians are asked to attend shorter separate session during which a recap of content being presented in the group sessions is explained. This enables additional assistance and guidance for participants outside of the group setting.

When considered beneficial, the content of the PEERS Program for Pre-Teens or Adolescents can be delivered in a one-to-one setting.
