PEERS® for Older Adults (26+ Years)

Both programs are comprised of 16 x 1.5-hour group sessions. Participants learn and rehearse a range of important age-related social skills and topics, including:

  • Using appropriate conversational skills

  • Choosing appropriate friends

  • Developing and maintaining friendships

  • Appropriately using electronic forms of communication

  • Appropriately using humour and assessing humour feedback

  • Starting, entering, and exiting conversations appropriately

  • Organising successful get-togethers with friends

  • Developing romantic relationships and the use of appropriate dating etiquette

  • Appropriately handling arguments and disagreements

  • Handling rejection, teasing, bullying (direct/indirect), and rumours/gossip   

When considered beneficial, the content of the PEERS® Program for Young or Older Adults can be delivered in a one-to-one setting.
